Italian Osteria DIECI Brings Seasonal Simplicity to Central

A new, intimate Italian dining spot has quietly opened in Central. DIECI, founded by Chef Paolo Olivieri, is a neighborhood-style osteria built around the philosophy of “less is more” and what Olivieri calls “Osteria Futura” — honoring tradition while embracing a modern, personal touch.

True to its name, which means “ten” in Italian, the restaurant features a concise, monthly-changing menu of ten signature dishes. Each plate is designed to tell a story, rooted in the rustic flavors and seasonal rhythms of Olivieri’s hometown in Italy’s Lazio region. The menu highlights include regional bites like Roman Suppli croquettes and Puntarelle salad, along with handmade pasta such as Tortellini from Emilia-Romagna and a wild boar Pappardelle ragù.

The space, designed by a Milan-Hong Kong firm, channels the cozy, retro vibe of a 1970s Lazio trattoria, with a central chef’s counter where Olivieri often interacts with guests. He describes DIECI as a homage to the communal, storytelling spirit of the osterias of his childhood.
