London’s Santa Nata Brings Its Portuguese Custard Tarts to Central With a Rotating Monthly Menu

Santa Nata, the London-born Portuguese bakery known for its handmade Pastéis de Nata, opens its first Asian location at 25-27 Lyndhurst Terrace in Central. The Hong Kong outpost marks the brand’s 10th shop and its first in Asia, joining existing locations across London, Oxford, Kuwait, Doha, and Istanbul.

Founded in 2019 by Portuguese entrepreneur Francisco Oliveira, Santa Nata follows a traditional recipe passed down for over 300 years. Each tart features laminated pastry layered to perfection, silky custard, and a caramelized, creamy center achieved through high-heat baking. Fresh batches emerge daily at 10am, 12pm, 2pm, 4pm, and 6pm — announced by the shop’s bells.

The opening menu centers on three hero items: the classic Pastel de Nata at HKD 14 each, Pao de Deus (“God’s Bread”) at HKD 25 — a traditional Portuguese sweet bread reimagined with a Hong Kong influence using a Japanese pillow-bun technique — and the Santa Nata Brioche at HKD 25, shaped like a French croissant with optional Nata Cream.

The Hong Kong location is distinguished by a rotating menu that introduces new products monthly, including limited-edition pastries, desserts, and seasonal specials inspired by both Portuguese traditions and local tastes. The intimate space seats eight guests, with standing room for eight more, and offers front-row views of the open kitchen.
