M+ Opens Design Ah! Exhibition With Interactive Stations, a Facade Commission, and Free Siu Mai

M+ has turned everyday actions into a hands-on playground. Design Ah! Experience the Wonder of Everyday Design is now open at the museum, running through January 10, 2027. Based on NHK’s long-running children’s program Design Ah! neo, the interactive exhibition invites visitors to look closely, try things out, and learn through play.

Twenty-one stations are organized around ten daily actions — walking, eating, sitting, and more — with references to Hong Kong’s visual environment and culinary traditions. Hands-on games, participatory installations, and immersive audiovisual environments encourage exploration and discovery.

A new facade commission, M+ Ah!, launched June 26 and runs nightly through October 11. Adapted specifically for Hong Kong from the NHK program, the work reimagines familiar objects and scenes with fresh visual interpretations inspired by the city’s culture.

Public programs run through December, including daily guided tours, Family Days on the last two Sundays of designated months, and a Children Summer Takeover: Creative Day Camp led by museum educators and artist instructors.

The M+ Shop has launched a merchandise range featuring T-shirts, caps, tote bags, and a “Very Hong Kong” series of plush toys and key chains inspired by local cultural elements.

Until July 5, visitors to the exhibition receive a complimentary serving of siu mai at nodi coffee shop in M+.
